Our first range of bags (and soon to be clothing line!) is made entirely from linen, hemp, jute, and 100% organic GOTS certified cotton. These are high-quality, sustainable fabrics, grown without fertilisers and chosen due to their low water consumption. We also make sure that all of our fabrics and materials are completely traceable, sourced in Italy and coming from certified supply chains.
This collection will start off with a small amount of stock, and then will be made mainly to order. Here’s why:
- Reduced Waste – The world is full of unwanted fashion garments that have been produced and never used. We don’t want to contribute to that.
- Local and Handmade – MÁGATA is a start-up, and all of our pattern cutting and sewing is done by two fantastic ladies, Paola and Eleonora. As for the design, concept, marketing, packaging, and general running of the business, I do everything from my home studio. Made to order cuts down on outsourcing, and stays true to the local ethos of the brand.
- Less Landfill – In our collection we also use so-called ‘deadstock’, which means we integrate fabric scraps and leftovers that would otherwise go to landfill. This results in a limited number of some designs and a few unique pieces. Collections might change from time to time – so, if you fall in love with something, be quick!
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY ORDER TO ARRIVE?
It will be 2-3 weeks from when we receive your order. Of course, this could be shorter – if your requested piece is still available in our small stockroom.
